RELIGION IN SCHOOLS.
ATTITUDE OF FREE CHURCH LEADERS. LONDON, November 8. Dr R. F. Horton, chairman of the Congregational Union, in reply to tho Archbishop of Canterbury's proposal for a conference on tho question of religious teaching in elementary schools, says tho Free Church leaders would only enter into a conference if it is, based on the recognition that all schools maintained by publjc money must bo absolutely under public control, and the teachers appointed by public authority without reference, to denominational distinctions. Tho reply is considered, as a non possumas.
