To crowd a week’s ‘ business into one day is a feat seldom accomplished by business firms, but this - apparently ImposMble achievement was realised by Messrs George and Kersloy yesterday on tho occasion of the opening day of their great stocktaking sale. The resources of tho firm’s staff was taxed to its utmost and before 12 o’clock the crowds became so unmanageable that the doors had to be closed at intervals. The mantle room formed the centre of some of the greatest bargain-giving in the warehouse, and was rushed all day with eager purchasers of jackets,' mantles and costumes, whilst the dress and silk room was so crowded that, locomotion was almost impossible at times. The firm have advertised for an additional staff of assistants, and they hope to be able to serve all customers to-day without delay.
