“Your coffin must hear the Union label” is tho headline which meets- the ©ye in some recent American papers. On reading further one learns that what is called the Casket Coverers’ and Trimmers’ Union is on strike, and that it is taking steps to interfere with any funeral in which the principal dramatis persona is not enclosed in a union-made coffin. The strikers do not- go to the length of desiring to prevent interment, but they will see that the funeral cortege in which there is no union-made coffin is divested of the trappings of woe, and that the ordinary carriage will have to do duty for a hearse.
