THE AUCKLAND MEETING. The North New Zealand Grand National Steeplechase meeting opens at Ellox*slio this afternoon. The following horses may run prominently in then engagements:— Maiden Steeplechase, two miles and a half (12-30) —Great Shot. ' Maiden Welter, seven furlongs (1.15) —Roseshoob and Sandy. Great Northern Steeplechase, three miles and a half (2) —Awalmri and Princess of Thule. Maiden Handicap, one mile and threequarters (2.40)-kGilnockie and Spalpeen. Tho Cornwall Handicap, one mil© (3.20) —Durable and Strathavon. Romuera Handicap Hurdles, two miles (4) —Waiwera and Oingo. PEESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, May 29. Tho weather is improving, hut the course will he, very heavy to-morrow. Catmongato, Haydn, Nor’-wester and Awalmri' wero each worked this morning. Sudden jumped the schooling fences. Puffing Billy and Tuni,. the only other likely starters in the Steeplechase, will work later. Mars, Waiwora, Battleaxe, Tresham, Oingo, Otairl, Lingard. Lady Bell, -Gilnockie, Mokomoko and Miss Drury, National Hurdle candidates, each did good work. The last-named will probably bo a non-start-er. Great Shot, Master Model, Marino, Pullback and Hipstone, likely runners in the Maiden Steeplechase, ' wore exorcised on the track. A number of others did useful work. Awalmri remains favourite for tho Steeplechase, and Otairi, Treshain and Mara are most fancied for the National Hurdles. ACCEPTANCES FOR OTAKI. OTAKI, May 29. DISQUALIFICATION. AUCKLAND, May 2S. ‘ The stewards of the Auckland Racing Club have concluded their inquiry in connection with tho Grandstand Handicap, run ait the autumn meeting, and brought in the following finding:—That ■George Tuck and the horse Landlock he disqualified during the pleasure of the stewards; that O. W. Coleman, trainer, bo disqualified for six mouths.; and that J. El'liedon bo warned off tho course and all other places where the rules of racing are in force.

The acceptances received by the Otaki Racing Olub for its meeting next week probably form a record for the colony. An average of sixteen horses have accepted for each of the baudioaip events on the first day. Of the horses weighted for the Birthday Welter all were accepted for hut one (Clbvelly).
