Jolin McDonald, a young man, admitted having behaved in a disordcrly manner whilst drunk in Urey street;. Several weeks ago he was convicted for a similar offence. After having read the man's “ list,” his Worship .said ho could hardly he. called a desirable person. A .sentence of three months imprisonment was imposed. Henry Innis, a cabdrivcr, charged with having failed to provide for the maintenance of his wife and child, was ordered to pay 17s (id a week, its td for his wife’s maintenance and 5s tor his child’s. Tho Wainuupa Farmers’ Co-operative Association took action against Levien, Shallcrass ami Co., and Henry Baldwin and Co. for the recovery of £4 ICs 7d, value of certain chaff. Tho case had already boon partially licard against Levien, Shallcrass and Co. at Masterton. From evidence forthcoming, it appeared that plaintifis consigned a truck of chaff from Mastorton to Pahiatua. By mistake tlio chaff was sent on to Wellington. Baldwin and Co., who were expecting a" truck of chaff at tho time, obtained possession of the consignment, and’ sold it to Levic-n, Sballcrass and Co., but discovering that a mistake had been 'made, asked Levion, Shallcrass and Co. to hold tlio goods on their account in the meantime, and that was agreed upon. Eventually Levien, Shallcrass and Co. bought the chaff from tho Wairarapa Farmers' Association.- Then tho question of weight arose. The defendants alleged, that the chaff was about' five tens in weight, and plaintiffs alleged it was about a ton more. Tho claim was for tho difference in weights in the chaff. Plaintiffs claimed the money from cither defendant. - His Worship reserved judgment until next Tuesday. Mr Williams apxmared for plaintiff, Mr Quick for Baldwin and Co. and Mr Mcntcath for Levien, Shallcrass and Co. In the case Wellington Loan Company. Litnitcd, V. J. Falconer, a claim, of £3B 10s Bd, Mr Young appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Weston for the defendant. It appeared that a man named Ryan owed defendant £SO. Ho gave a promissory note for the amount, flic Wellington Loan Company discounted the bill on tho defendant endorsing it. It was not renewed, and consequently it was dishonoured. Defendant denied having received the notice of dishonour. Plaintiff proved that tho notice of dishonour had been posted within tho tifne allowed by the Act. Judgment- was for plaintiff for tho amount claimed, with £i Ids costs.

William Wocdmo-re and his wife sued Edward Bourke, boardinghouse-keeper at 'Hunterville, far £25, wages. Judgment was for plaintiff for £ls 15s, with £2 Gs costs. Tho defendant Bourke counter-claimed ;on the plaintiffs for £lB 18s for keeping their child. Judgment was for Bourke for £4 4s, with £1 7s costs. Mr Hindmarsh appeared for Woodmorc and Mr Young for Bourke.

Before*Mr E. O’Connor, J.P., at the Mount Cook Police Station, one firstoffender, charged with drunkenness, was convicted. Martha ' Halliburton, for having been drunk and disorderly, was fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment.
