The death is announced of Mr Julian Ralph. The Taranaki v. Auckland cricket matcii was won by the former team. The Caledonian meeting was commenced yesterday at Wanganui. The Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting opened yesterday. The Cup was won by Advance. The trial of Colonel Lynch, M.P. for Galway, on the charge of treason., has commenced in England. Presentations wero made to the Premier and to Mr A. W. Hcgg, M. 11.1!., yesterday at a Liberal gathering at Mastorton.
After an exciting fight a British dhow on the Somaliland coast captured an Arab dhow containing French rifles and ammunition intended for the Mullah. In the course of an animated debate in the German Reichstag, the Chancellor, Count von Bulow, made an importaot speech regarding international politics.
