(From Our Own Correspondent.) Friday. At tho monthly meeting of tho Carterton Borough Council, tho overdraft was reported to ho £438 Xss lOd. After payment of a first instalment of £2BO to tho Wairarapa .County Council, tho water supply loan shows a credit of £IG 15s 9d. • The Greytown and Carterton Borough! Councils have nominated Mr H. Trotman, of Greytown, as a probable trustee to represent them on tho .Wairarapa District Hospital Board at Masterton. Five trustees aro required, and tho election will take place at Masterton on Monday. Mr Godfrey Taylor, of Ballanco, was appointed to represent tho local Council on the Pahiatua Hospital Board, and tho representatives selected by the Featherston and Wairarapa County Councils were also appointed to represent tho Council oh tho Wellington Benevolent Trustees. Mr H. It. Bunny has been re-elected chairman of the South Wairarapa County Council. Tho merging of tho Taratahi-Carterton Road Board will date as from Ist January, 1903. A number of children in this district, besides suffering from measles and pneumonia, are afflicted with whooping cough. Several old residents are also at present prostrated with illness, and the prevalence of sickness is almost alarming. In view of tho fact that tho only two physicians residing in Carterton cannot copo adequately with tho epidemics, there is some talk of obtaining tlig services of another resident medical officer.
