This was a more interesting game than the figures would seem to imply, although the Petone players wore not in condition for playing a niatchi' having opened their courts so very recently. Victoria College, on the other hand, showed distinctly that they had been hard at work. Bogle is a. very promising player, and has a nice easy style. The ladies in both teams played pretty tennis, the services cf one being especially noticeable. BROUGHAM HILL v. TAITA. Newtown courts (referee Mr M. Iras* er). —Brougham Hill won by 17 sets to 1. Scores:—Gower (8.H.) v. Moore Ccax>tain), G—2. 4—6; Howe (captain B.jaj v Gillon, won by former by default; Lindsay (8.H.) v. Simm, won by former by default; Hunter (8.H.) V. Williams. Moore’s fast left hand services were capital, but want, of condition was evident. The losing team played a plucky uphill game, and mil not always bo beaten. Owing to heavy rain on the previous night and Saturday morning, those players who lived lotig distances froni the train failed to attend and Horokiwi has applied to have its match with Thomdon played on Saturday next. Palmerston North will play BL-usterton at Blasterton, and Wanganui will P «y the winner at Palmerston >or bn. Dates to be arranged. The final between the representative cily and country clubs will probably be played some time during January OT Fberuary.
