PUES3 ASSOCIATION. WESTPORT, November 29. Mi* Hawkins. S.M., gave judgment for plaintiff for ASS and costs iu Mrs Carruthers v. Railway Department, a claim of A2OO damages for injuries through being thrown from a train. Tho Department proceeded against Sirs Carruthers for quitting a moving train, hut the information was dismissed. The main point in dispute was whether the guard gave the passengers. sufficient time to alicht before re-startiuu the train. MARTON. November 29. At the Marten Court to-day Joseph Temperley wa committed for trial to the Wanganui Court for attempted wife murder and suicide on 3rd November. ASHBURTON. November 29. The body of an old man named Turner, who had 'been missing from the Old Men’s Home for a week, wag found in the swimming bath in the Domain this morning. About twelve months, ago. Turner attempted to commit suicide in the some place, but was rescued by the Rev W. Lamb. Baptist minister. NAPIER. November 29. Andrew Nedson. who had a number of ur«-ious convictions, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment for the theft of AlO 10= at Waipawa
