FIRST-CLASS YACHT RACE. Beautiful weather prevailed for tho opening of the Wellington yachting season on Saturday. Tho event of the afternoon was the first-class yacht race, for which the Waitangi and tho Vorangi entered. A fair start was effected, and the two beats, with full mainsails, jibs and staysails, set to a strong nor’west breeze, cut through tho water at a great pace. Aorangi soon beaded her rival, and after a splendid race won by aheut six minutes. The final heat for the President’s Fours, Petone Rowing Club, resulted in a win for it. Poll (stroke!. Smith 01). Moss (3) and Brown thow) by throe lengths from s'. Welle (stroke), Anderson (2), Kealley (3), Ashcroft (bow).
