Another dynasty ia threatened with extinction. The King of Serna has absolutely no known relatives. Tho Grand Duke of Hose’s heir must be sought in tho offspring of a marriage which took place about 350 years ago. Tho Grand Duke is, however, a dovorcoe, and still young. But now tho Grand Duko of Luxemburg is threatened with a similar difficulty. Himself an octogenarian, he has‘one son and one brother, and no other male relative. His son has daughters only, and is now laid low by paralysis; his brother is morganatically married. In default of male issue to his son, he will have to go further .back even than tho Grand Duke of Hesse for his nearest male agnate.
