At the comity meeting last Wednesday, Councillor Freeman was unanimously elected county chairman. A motion to rescind tho resolution providing for tho payment of a fixed honorarium to tho chairman was loot by the casting veto of tho chairman. Tho dairying industry in the district is advancing by leaps and bounds, and thcro aro prospects of a most successful season. Tho local Co-operative Dairy Company has sold its output for the summer at 10>d per lb—a record for tho colony. Tho Horticultural Society's spring show, to ho held next Wednesday, is attracting considerable attention.
