LOCAL OPTION.

PRESS ASSOCIATION. STRATFORD, November 28. Tho complete returns for the licensing poll are:—Continuance, 2179; reduction, 1842; no license, 22C3; informal, 254. INVEBOAEGILL, November 28. A scrutiny of the Invercargill roll and licensing poll papers shows that tho carrying of no-license was lost by eight votes only. Special to the “ Times.” OTAKI, November 28. Tho official return of the local option poll is as follows: —Continuance, 1345; reduction, 955; no-license, 1062. Mr H. M, Lyon, retaining officer for Newtown, yesterday concluded his scrutiny of tho rolls, tho result being that apparently some three or four electors have voted twice, and their votes will have to he struck out; but this will not affect the result of tho local option poll. This scrutiny, it should be explained, is quite distinct from a re-count of the votes cast, which can only bo called for after the result of tho poll has been officially announced. Air Lyon will probably niako the official intimation to-day. Until this is done, it cannot bo known whether a fresh count will bo demanded.
