ENTERTAINMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE. “Tho Y/rong Mr Wright ” attracted a largo audience to tbs Opera House last night. Tho absurdly humorous situations with which tho comedy abounds, and tho bright and racy dialogue which lends point to tho piece, wero followed by tho audienoo with an ebulUonoy of spirits and a hearty appreciation. of tho comedy that was most encouraging to tho principals concerned in tho interpretation. In tho part of Singleton Sites tho millionaire, who assumed another man’s uamo with temporarily disastrous results, Mr George Willoughby gave a clover picture of American humour and liard-headedness, and ho was excellently seconded by tho Misses Watt-Phillips, Roxy Barton, Ethel Appleton and Millio Ascoli. Mr Frank H. Doubon was successful in the part of Sites’s nephew, while Mr Gcorgo Leopold, aa Wayland Clingstono (“ a boy of long ago”) lont humour to tho situations. Mr Edwin Lester gave a more or less warlike sketch, of an American captain, and Mr Tom Cannam did his best with a travesty character of a degenerate resembling “tho light that never was on land and sea.” Mr T. E. Loonai’d was good in tho character of “Front.” Tho bright iustnuuental music incidental to the pieoo was played with lino effect by the orchestra, and everything in connootioa with tho minor details of tho pieoo was attended to with, praiseworthy compitetcnoss. DIM’S GAIETY COMPANY. Tho progi’amrao of tho present week was concluded last night at tho Theatre Royal. Messrs Cal I alum and Maok scored a groat success with their playlob “Tho Old Neighbourhood.” Tonight is tho last • appearance cf this clover pair, and judging by their popularity, a good send-off should bo given them. New songs and sketches will bo ■introduced by tho members of tho company. On Monday next “Tho Three Casinos” will appear for tho first timo in this theatro in musical burlesque, introducing tho “singing dog.” A novel act may bo anticipated.

Mr M. Marcus, manager for _Mr Harry Rickards, arrived last night from tho North to make arrangements for tho forthcoming season of Eugeno Sandow, tho famous athlete and exponent of physical culture, commencing at tho' Opera House on Monday, tho Bth December. The company supporting Sandow consists cf Mr and Mrs Sidney, Drew, “Tho American Kendalls,” Professor Maocann, Mr Mark Anthony, Littlo Fanny Powers, Misses Ray Jones and Nita Locto. Sandow created a great sensation during his Auckland season, and is now appearing in tho Northern provincial towns._ At tho Missions to Seamen last night matters of interest to seamen, such as “Frost Bites,” “Drowning,” oto, woro discussed. Mrs Walhorgh had arranged a musical programme, in which she was assisted by Miss Johnson and Messrs Young and Best. On account of tho largo amount of necessary preparation, and tho inclemency of tho weather last night, Mr Gcorgo Doan decided to postpone the opening of tho Wellington season of the waxworks until to-night. There is every reason to believe that a successful season is in store for tho company. The performance will commence at 8 o’clock this evening.

THE PEOPLE’S VOTE. No question ns to tho result, G. Smith, tlie Gash Draper, is bound to come out on top for price and quality. C. Smith's is one of the best known-houses in the drapery trade in Australasia. He is just now showing a largo consignment of loco curtains, bought expressly for the Christmas trade, 8000 pairs to select from.
