LAND BOARD.

Tlio monthly meeting of the Wellington Land Board was held yesterday. Tlicro were present:—Mr .J. Slrauchon (Commissioner of Crown Lands), Messrs A. W. Hogg, and A. Hcecc. The application., of Mr Avisou for section SO, Epinii Hhmlct, was approved. C. and G. Tally appeared in support of their application lor a further 32U acres ct tho Longbush Estate, on the ground that the 320 acres they already held was insuiheient to mako a living off. They stated that they had legal advice that they were eligible as trustees to obtain 320 acres in the Tablelands Estate. Tho Board resolved not to approve the increase of the Longbush section. The following applications for titles wore approved subject to the conditions beiug complied wuhSection 5, block 15, ilautapu, G. E. Jackson; section 3, block 10, liautapu, E. Jackson. Tho following applications to transfer woro approved subject to the conditions of the Act being complied with: —Section 6; block 1, ILauutpu, E. IVLoye to E. I*. Loye, W. G., 11. T., A. P. and S. J. Loye; section 6, block 7, Emutoi, 11. J. Gawler to K. .1. and E. li. Gawler; &cctlou 12, block 2, Kairauga, 11, J. Whitelnw to A. M. Whitclaw; pare of section 1 of 12, block 19, Maugahao, E. J. Boak to J. Macdonald. The following transfers were approved subject to the usual conditions and tho rangers* reports being favourable;—Section 2, block 4, Tiriraukawa, G. E. Archer to V. Mc’Dowall; section 79, block 7, Ongo, C. Abbiss to A. Abiss; section 3, block 4, XJnvutoi, 11, W. A. Thompson to J. J. Welsh and H. 11. Wilson; section 105, Korokoro V.S., 11. Leger to P. Craig; section 24, Horowlienua V.S., G. Cox,to H. Leger; section 75, Taihapo V.S., S E. Minn to J. Quinn; section 15, block 3, Tiriraukawa, E. Groves to J. P. Sullivan; section 10, Manganahu V.S., A. J. jßelph to H. G. Skinner (holder of sections 11 and 12 adjoining); section 15, block 15, Manganui, E. J. Lesley to W. Sanders; section 20, block 12, Apiti, J. Currie to E. Smith; section 31. block 14, Tararua, A. E. Palmer to.J. Farrow; section 7, block 9, Tararua (F. Wilson's section), J. H. and F. A. G. Hughes (mortgagees), to Miss Nora Hughes; tamo section Miss Nora Hughes to A. T. and C. V. Anderson (subject to completion of preceding transfer); section 23, Paparangi Settlement, E. A. 11. to Mrs Sara Fcarne; section 18, block-5, Apiti, M. Berriman to M. Berriman and son (one cf transferees to reside on land); section. 25, block 12, Belmont (Paparangi Settlement), Mrs Murch to T. Greer (Johnsouville), provided transferee is found eligible. Permission was granted to F. E. Luke to sub-let sections 11 and 13, block 1 3, Potaka, which he stated ho was unable to sell. Tho Board in this and other applications expressed its disapproval of sub-letting, which tended to establish a species of landlordism. It was decided to set aside section 32, block 12, etc., Akatarawa, as a reserve for climatic and water conservation purposes. Section 21, block 11, Makuri, was allotted to Mr H. Parker in terms of section 114 of the Land Act of 1892. H. T. Ellingham was granted about 30 acres of section 45. block 13, Mount Cerberus, to permit of tho erection, of a fence. Plans of the Piriaka township, the Hokio native township and the Mowhanau township were submitted by the Commissioner, and the gale of the sections wag approved. J. Cotter's application to lease sections 119, 120 and 121, block *l7, Makuri, was axiproved, subject to usual conditions. W. Parker's application for lease of section 112, block 13, Makuri, was also approved. A number of settlers in the Aorangi settlement petitioned the Board, protesting against their sections being included in the Feilding River Board area. The Board had no power to interfere. It was agreed to approve sections 30, 31 and 32, block 17, Maugahao, being vested in the Mangatainoka Domain Board. Tho recommendations of the Commissioner with regard to dealing with reserves in tho Akitio County were approved. It was reported that part of section 2, block 5, Mount Cerberus, had been resumed under section 125 of the Land Act, 1802, for a school site. It was resolved to set aside section 4/, block 16, Apiti, as a scenery preservation reserve. Maior Tunuiarangi's lease m the Hurupi block was renewed for three years. It was resolved to declare the holders' in the following blocks forfeitod;—Sections 11. 10 and 0. block 10, Aohan era; section D. block 3, Rewa; sections 29. 30 and 31, block 1, Parata native township; section 15a, block 12, Belmont
