NAVAL DEFENCE.

THE NEW ADMIRAL OF THE AUSTRALIAN SQUADRON. (Received November 27, 1.35 a.m.) LONDON, November 20. At a banquet /iven by the Colonial Club to Admir/7 Arthur D. Fanshawo. who was recently appointed to too command of the Australian squadron, a hundred were present. Sir J. A. OTTAWA, November 25, Mr F. W. Borden' Canadian Minister of Militia, and a member of the. Navy League .of Ottawa, says tho, Canadian Government will consider a scheme for making Canadian branches of tho league as a naval force available for Imperial service.
