SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22. (Before Dr A. McArthur, S.M.) Throe first-olf ending inebriates were convicted and discharged. A previouslyconvicted drunkard named • Kitty Andrews was fined 20s, in default seven days’ imprisonment. A sailor named Walter Phillips, tvho ■was charged with drunkenness and indecency, was convicted and ordered to bo placed on board his ship. Andrew Anderson pleaded guilty to a charge of having stolen timber valued at 3s 6d, the property of Thomas Carmichael, at Wellington, on the 22nd inst. Sub-Inspector O’Donovan stated that the defendant was seen in tho act of taking several pieces of scantling from tho now railway building in Peatherston street. Contractors had repeatedly been making complaints about having timber and tools stolon from bail clings in course of erection, and ho considered it a caso which should bo mndo an example of. His Worship imposed a lino of 20s, in default seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour. Charles Buck, a seaman belonging to tho ship Nelson, pleaded guilty to having had in his possession un-Cusfomed goods—to wit, 21b of tobacco, valued at 10s 6d. A fine of 20s, in default seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour, was imposed.

Brennan, a dispute under the Fencing Act as to the stylo of a fouco which should bo erected between two properties at Petone, his Worship considered a fire-foot closeboarded fence was such a one as would meet tho merits of both owners.
