Messrs Clark and Robinson, owners of tne, Melbourne Cup winner, are at present in England, where their colours have been successfully carried by Duodenal d (by Carbine), Coo-ee (by Trenton) and other horses. The racing partnership has been very successful in Australia considering the few* representatives the owners have . had. The AngloColonial sportsmen were present at Flemington a year ago, when they won the Maribyrnong Plate with Nipbetos, afterwards taken to the Old Country. They were successfully represented by Bienzi (Carlyon—Brown Alice) in a two-year-old race at Caulfield. The Victory won the Standish Handicap at Flemington on New Year’s Day, and the Elms Handicap at the March meeting. The colt’s best performances were put up in South Australia, where he won the St. Leger Stakes, Parkside Stakes and 'Birthday Cup, and ran second in the Adelaide Cup. The Victory was bred by Mr S; G.- Cook, whose colours were at one time successfully carried by The Aumiral in the Maribyrnong Plate, V.R.C. Derby and other important events. The Charmer also won races for Mr Cook, and acted as runner-up to Boz in the Caulfield Cup of 1889. ’ Vanity Fair had previously been considered only a sprint er,and had not succeeded over a longer distance than a mile She was fancied for the Newmarket and Doncaster Handicaps last autumn, but ran unplaced in both events. She won the Farewell Handicap, one mile, at the V.R.C. autumn meeting. This was her only win of any importance. She is a half-sister to Malvolio, who won the jielbourne Cup in 1891, and to Ma,lnina. who won the Newmarket Handicap of 1896, and afterwards won important races in England, including the Cambridgeshire Stakes. .
