MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 22. (Before Mr W. R. Haseldcn, S.M.) Three first offenders, charged with drunkenness, were convicted. John McQitcen and John Boyes denied having stolen a bicycle valued at £B, the property of William Burbidge, on the 19th inst., at Wellington. The defendants were remanded until the 2S)th *nst. Alice Merry was charged with having caused a dwelling to be erected in Sage’s lauo without having provided suitable sewage drains, with, having erected a dwelling within the city without having provided sufficient air space for its exclusive use, and with having * caused to bo commenced the erection of a dwollinghouse. in Sago’s lane without having obtained a permit from the City Surveyor. Mr Martin appeared for the Corporation, and Mr Hindmarsh for the defendant. The defendant stated that one of the summonses had not been served. The cases were adjoiurned until Monday, in order to allow them to lie heard together.
