The garrisons on the Turko-Bnlgarian frontier have been reinforced. The annual meeting 'of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday. Particulars have been received of several recent engagements in the Transvaal. An effort is being made to raise .£2OOO in Australia by public subscription to send a team of riflemen to Bisley. The Hawke’s Bay Education Board is complaining of the delay of the Education Department in answering correspondence. It is proposed by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in Britain to increase the stamp and bill duties, add to the income tax, and to place import duty on corn and flour.
