BOWLING.
WELLINGTON CLUB. In consequence of a heavy shower early in the afternoon, very few games were played on the Wellington Club’s green on Saturday. A team from the Petone Club tried conclusions with the holders of the Edwin feathers, a Wellington Club loam. The name was well contested, and the holders retained the trophies by only one point. Following is the result: Challengers (Petone). —Price, Reynolds, Carter, Castle (s.), 20. Holders (Wellington).—Reid, Knapp, Still. Hodd (s.), 21. VICTORIA CLUB. The chief attraction at the Victoria Club on Saturday was a match Scotland versus tho World. Although the weather was anything but promising for bowls at 2 o’clock, a goodly number of players assembled, and at 3 o’clock play was begun. A very enjoyable game resulted, Scotland! suffering defeat by & points. A very pleasing little ceremony was performed before play started. Several members who have a high opinion of the Scots procured a suit of kilts, which 'dr John Mackay presented to Mr A. B. Anderson as representing the clans. The only stipulation made was that the kilts should be worn while the game was being played, and Mr Anderson duly arrayed himself in the garb of old Scotia The following are the scores: Scotland—MacMorran, Menelaus, Scott, Reid (s.), 21; The World—Avery, Norwood, Townsend, Mack (s.), 16. Scotland—Hartin, Henry, HenJry, Brackenridge (s.), 27; The World —jxorshaw. Hatch, Hamerton, Page (s.), 14. The "W orld—Ma.yer, Tattle, Dixon, Hueston (s.), 30; Scotian 1--Mellowan, Jenkins. Snaddon, Anderson (Sr), 14. The World—Baggett, Rntter, Varcoe, Redstone (s.), 27; Scotland —Paterson, Kollow, Keith, Mackay (s.), 11. Scotland—Witt. Mavo (s.), 24; The World—Guise, White (s.), 12. Totals—The World. 93: Scotland. 97. NEWTOWN CLUB. The Huddart-Parker gold medal, which was won by tho Newtown Club at the recent tournament, has, according to the donor’s conditions, been competed for. In the first games, Nancarrow beat Price, and d’Emden beat Astill. In the final game the competitors kept close together. At the 20th head they were 17, and in playing the 21st head Nancarrow drew close to the “jack," and d’Bmden was unable to dislodge him. The scores were therefore—Nancarrow 18, d’Emden 17. The following games were played on the Newtown green on Saturday:—Wise, Bell, d’Emden, Price (s.), 26; Crewes, Rhodes, ,Higginbottom. Nancarrow (s.), 18. Brogan, Shore, Astill, Lambert (s.), 18; McDowall, Haworth. Martin, McLean (s.), 17.
