SATURDAY’S MATCHES. There was a fairly large attendance at the Basin Reserve on Saturday to see the senior games of the Midland and Wellington, the Old Boys and the Phoenix, and that of All Wellington against Midland. The wickets were not favourable for good batting, and as a result tho bowlers had an inexpensive harvest. There was also played on tho Reserve a public schools representative match— Wellington v. Wairarapa. This was spoilt by the poor showing of the visitors. They were evidently untrained, they wielded their willows feebly, and they failed to make tho most of their opportunities. After tho Senior Championship games had been finished a game was begun between the Midland eleven and one alleged to bo representative of All Wellington. The latter team was got rid of for 86 runs, Richardson being tho only one to hit up a respectable score. Tucker got the fine average of four wickets for 13 runs ; Holdsworth took four for 28. Tho wicket-keeping of W. Roberts was very good, not a single bye being scored. Midland ran up a total of 52 runs for three wickets before time was called. Following are tho scores: ALL WELLINGTON.—First Innings. Richardson, b Holdsworth ... ... 26 Waters, b Robertson ... ... 7 S. Hickson, c C. In tho incomplete game between Midland and Wellington, tho former team, requiring 68 runs to win, lost its last three wickets for 13 runs, and thus Wellington won the game by 55 runs. Halos took five wickets for 38 runs. Old Boys, with eight wickets down for 181 runs, and requiring 24 runs to beat Phoenix, were all out for 196, and thus they suffered defeat by nine runs. Tho match was the boldest bid for victory that the Old Boys have made since they entered the Senior Championship competition. It was unfortunate for them that a wet wicket should have militated against them at the finish of a hard-fought game. The following table shows how the various clubs competing for the, Senior Championship of the Welling-. ton Cricket Association finished:— ■Club. Matches. Won. Lost. Midland ... 6 5 1 Wellington ... 6 4 2 Phoenix ... 6 3 3 Old Boys ... 6 0 6 JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. Phoenix v.
