OPERA HOUSE. The absorbing drama which has been weaved out of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s iamous story was again pourtrayed by the Sheridan Company at the Opera House last evening to an excellent audience. Additional interest was lent to.the pathetic story by some sweetly rendered negro melodies. Conspicuous among the characters were Uncle Tom, George Har, ris (a quiet and effective study by Mr Charles Ashley), Jurisprudence Marks <a cleverly conceived character, in which Mr Sheridan shows hia great versatility). Topsy .and Eliza Harris. The heavy cast did very even work, and tho ensemble in the various, acts was effective. The scenery and stage effects throughout were excellent. ‘‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin” will bo repeated this evening, and a matinee will' be given to morrow. The last per. formance will bo given to.morrow night, after which the company leaves for Christchurch.
