(Bv Telegraph-—Own Corriespondent.) Tuesday. 4-20 p.m. Mr W. M. Singleton, Government Dairy Instructor has now visited the four local cheese factories. He lias made cheese at the Dalefield, Belvedere and Taratahi factories, besides tendering to managers such advice a» will make for uniformity in the product. He states that New Zealand dairy farmers have given more attention in winter to the housing and feeding of their stock. In Canada cattle are hooped systematically, and fed on ensilage. If our farmers follow this pro cedure, he thinkg the quality of cheese will -improve fully 15 her cent. The Dairy Instructor further states that South Island farmers , must to a largo extent discontinue feeding dairy stock on turnips to ensure' success in the British market, and cheese will have to he of better quality than that forwarded to Australia. During the past month 12,3821 b of cheese were made at the Taratahi Dairy Factory. The sum of £IOO 19a 3d, representing an advance of 2d - per gallon, was divided amongst suppliers. At Belvedere 26,2251 b of cheese were made, and 2d a gallon, amounting to £l7O 3s Bd. was advanced to suppliers this morning. The milk plied to the Dalefield Factory amounted to 35.7001 b, an increase of 60001 b on the corresponding period of last year.
