The Home of Lords has rejected the Outdoor Relief (Friendly Societies) Bill on the third reading by 66 votes to 39. The bill orders guardians in granting relief to take no account of aid that the recipient may be enjoying from a friendly society. In moving the rejection of the bill, the Earl of Northbrook said ho could not understand why assistance should bo given to friendly societies and denied to Post Office Bank savings and other forms of thrift.
