Mr Henderson, manager of the New South Wales football team, said that so £a r the hospitality extended to his team in New Zealand had been of the warmest nature. Taking the match against Wellington as a criterion, he thought that in the subsequent contests his men would g-Vo a good account of'tbemselves, and he was well satisfied with their form in Saturday’s game. It had been reportedthat the team was a light one. but they were heavier than people would probably give them credit for. The average weight of the forwards was 12st 101 b, and of the whole team 12st. He expressed anxiety lest any of the best players should get knocked out before tho New Zealand match. Several members of the team had already suffered from the effects of last Saturday’s game. Costello. the skipper, had been left behind in Wellington owing to a severe kick on tho head. He would probably rejoin the team on its return from Invercargill. Harris (half-back), in stopping Molntvre, the AVellington three-quarter, had severely sprained the muscles of his shoulder, and would probably stand down for a. match or two. Maund (full-back) had received an injury to his shoulder, and Wickham, the crack three-quarter, had been injured about the leg. Shortland Had also received a nasty kick on the hand, which reunired treatment. Wickham would probatfly be able to play a vain st Southland. Questioned as to whether any reserves would he brouvbt over from Sydney to take part in the New Zealand match. Mr Henderson said ho could give no opinion_Dn that subject.
