Mssrs Johnston and Co. are the local agents of the steamer Gntlsbjs, due on Thursday from New York via Auckland. Tho Kavarnea, which arrived at Port Chalmers on Monday, will not—so her agents think—visit this port. She has brought no Homo cargo for Wellington. The harqnentine Pelotas went over to the Railway Wharf last evening, where she will take in 100 tons of coal from the Manourika, for Kaipara. The barque Solveig removes to-day to the Wool Jetty in order to take in ballast, preparatory* to sailing for Kaipara, at which port she loads timber for Sydney. The To Anan brought from Auckland yesterday 2457 bags of sugar, 120 bags of cement, 75 cases of fruit, 26S pieces of timber and a large quantity of miscellaneous cargo, also a quantity of general cargo for ontports. The first of the Glasgow Wharf cranes has been placed on the gantry which carries it, and gives some idea of the up-to-date arrangements to he provided on the new wharf for loading and discharging ships. The wharf will be provided with ten cranes similar to tho one now being put in position.

The Waihora left Sydney for this port last Saturday at 6 p.m.. It is not probable that she will arrive in time to be berthed this evening. Should she arrive during the night and tho medical officer boards her at daylight she will be berthed at eight o’clock. Tlie Marine Department has been informed by the Bluff Harbour Board that the light-ship at the Bluff is replaced, its present position being slightly to westward of its former position. The position will he rectified on the first favourable opportunity. THE WEATHER. TYPICAL NEW ZEALAND STATIONS.
