Arrived—Wakatu (2 p.m.), from Kai. fcoura. The Tarawera did not sail from Lyttelton till midnight on Saturday, having waited for the Stanton Opera Company. The vessel was worked for a couple of hours after midnight last night putting out the scenery of the company, so as to enable ft to be railed by the first train this morning. The Waikato will not come back to Wellington, but will sail for London from Southern ports. Mr Healy has relieved Mr PieUruou as second engineer of the Rotokino. Mr Pieterson has gone to Dunedin. The Queen of the South passed on from Foxton yesterday, evidently bound for some East Coast port. The S.S. and A. Company’s Kumara ar. rived at Hobart from London on Saturday. She was to sail again at 4 p.m. the same day for this port. She has five passengers for Australia and 45 for this colony.

The Rotokino brought from Westport yesterday 1700 tons of coal for the collier Penarth, which is taking a cargo of coal to China for the British Admiralty. When the Ovalau and Rotokino were at Westport the other day, the respective commanders changed back to their old vessels. Captain. Farmer again assuming command of the Rotokino, and Captain McLean taking charge of the Ovalau. The first officers also changed, Mr Ruxton being now first of the Rotokino, and Mr Jordan being first of the Ovalau. The Westralia brought from Melbourne on Saturday 618 tons of miscellaneous cargo, including 1000 cases of kerosene, 882 sacks of salt. 174 cases of tea, 32 bales of kapok, 83 pieces of pine, 36 cases tobacco, 25 cases milk, 325 packages of bark, 200 bags of sugar. 722 cases of fruit, and a large quantity of dredging maohin. ery (a screen and two ladder sections) for the Great Woodstock Company Greymonth. She took to Sydney 653 tons of cargo. The Star of New Zealand ainved from London via Australia, Auckland and East Coast early on Saturday, and was berthed at noon. She left juond -n cn May 31st, and arrived at Mel bourne on July 16th. The passage from London to Auckland only occupied 58 days. Cantain Hart is still in command. The Star of New Zealand has 350 tons of cargo for Wellington. She will take in here 20.000 carcases of mutton, 500 casks of tallow and 300 bales of wool. The Collector* of Customs afc Christchurch has informed the Marine Department that the Cygnet towed the schooner Jessie Niocol into Lyttelton. The Jessie Niccol was recently abandoned off Eaikonra.
