The Marlborough representative team will arrive in Wellington by the Mapou. rika this evening. It will play the Wyn. rarapa team at Carterton on Thursday, and the Bush Union team at Pahiatua on Saturday. It is probable that a match will be arranged between the Marlborough representatives and the Wellington representatives, to be nlayed on the 14th iust. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondents.) DUNEDIN, August 5. The football match between Southland and Otago on Saturday is worth noting, because it may turn out that Southlan is able to hold its own with the other provincial teams. In this match the Southlanders showed splendid form, completely outclassing the Otago vanguard, who are a bit on the light side. Southland had the host of tho game from the start, and it was only the fine defen. sive- play of the Otago backs that saved the dark bines from defeat. The Southland backs handled the ball neatly, and on a fine day would be a formidable rearguard. Jacobs (recently of Wellington) played five-eighths, and was one of the best backs on the ground. OTAKI, August 5.
