Five hundred and fifty thousand seals is the average annual catch for the world. Four hundred and sixty thousand of these come from North American seas, 80,000 from North European. All officers and non-commissioned officers above the rank of corporal—llegulars, Militia, Yeomanry and Volunteers—are to be provided in future by the Aldershot authorities with maps of the surrounding district on a scale of two inches to the mile.
