ACCIDENTS.
PRSSS3 A3SOOUTIOW. INVERCARGILL. July 15. At tho inquest as to tho death of Mrs Sntyd, the jury found that death was caused liy a signal-rocket fired hy Cap tain Mctiilvarav, and also expressed the opinion that the Borough Council and police showed -neglect in not enforcing their powers, McUilvaray was charged with manslaughter, and was remanded for a week. Bail in two sureties of JJIOC each -was forthcoming.
NAPIBB, July 18. The body of the man found in the water near Clive has been “identified as that of John Prior, who had been working for a contractor in the district. The deceased was a man of weak intellect, and had been roaming about the country for the last few weeks. It is not known whether he had any 'relations in the colony.
