MEETINGS.

The fortnightly meeting of the New Zealand Workers’ Union was held at the Trooadero last night. Mr O’Brien, president, occupied the chair. Correspondence was received from the Wanuaio branch of the union respecting rules and mention, ing that other branches of the union would.shortly be established in TimarU. Temuka and Geraldine. The secretary was instructed to forward copies of rules and other information required. It was decided to daw the attention of the Government to the advisahleness of bringing agricultural labourers within the scope of the AVorkers' Compensation for Accidents Act. The intention of the Government to establish a State coalmine was heartily approved; also the idea of passing a precautionary measure making it illegal for "persons, corporations 'or comp inios to enter into contracts or agreements fixing an abnormal price at which foodstuffs or coal within the colony,should be sold.’’ .
