Before the Ophir left Wellington each member of the crew of the vessel was presented with a special souvenir card by the Missions "to Seamen. The card is very neatly arranged and printed. At the head is the announcement that his Majesty the King is patron of the society, and the Duke of Cornwall and York the vice.patron. Then follows the date, the lines ""Visit of ' their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York,” and the paragraph: "In welcoming the crew "of the Royal yafcht Ophir to Wellington, the members -■' t! e Missions to Seamen wish them a most enjoyable stay “and God’s guidance and blessing on their voyage to home and loved ones,” Two scriptural quotations and three well. Chosen verses follow* The scow Oban arrived yesterday n-om West Wanganui with a part cargo of flax. She is berthed at the Queen’s Wharf The barquentine .Silver Cloud Whs towed oilt yesterday and sailed direct for Hokianga, where she will load timber for SydB T'he New ’(Zealand Shipping Company’s Whakatane sailed from Plymouth on the 28th iiist. for this port and Lyttelton. The Hawke’s Bay is due to arrive at Auckland about the 9th Of next month. She then comes to Wellington via the East Coast. „ , The Huddart-Parker steamer Zealandia, which left Auckland on Monday evening last, arrived at Sydney at five o’clock last she Moa came off the Slip to-dav and was berthed at the Jervois quay Wharf, at which nlace certain repairs will be effected to her machiuery. The Tyser liner Tomoana is expected at Auckland about the 6th prox. She is due in Wellington after visiting Gisborne and Napier. The Assistant Marine Superintendent at Wellington of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company. Captain Hart, was a passenger by the Elingamite from Auckland yesterday. Captain Hart has been spending a few weeks in Auckland for the benefit of his health and has benefited by his well-earned holiday. Owing to rotigh weather experienced Oh the coast the Star of England will not reach this port next Tuesday. After discharge of her. inward Wellington cargo she will take in tallow and pelts. She will then visit Wanganui and afterwards return, to this port to fill up with frozen mutton. The A. and A. liner Cereda reached Wellington yesterday afternoon from New York via southern ports. On the passage from New York to the Bluff very bad weather was encountered, which was responsible for the long voyage, 75 days. The Cereda has for this port about 6000 oases of kerosene and 300 tons of general cargo. She is berthed at ihe Jervois quay end of the Queen’s Wharf. The unloading of the Wellington cargo of the barque Camphill was_ finished on ■Thursday. It was exceedingly smart work—l3oo tons in four days. The damage worked by a gale which the vessel ran into on her way to the colony (when off Amsterdam Island, about midway between the Cape and Australia) is being made good at this port. A wave which struck the vessel on that occasion smashed up the after boat skids, carried one boat overboard and left the other in pieces. New skids have just been completed, a boat is being built hy a local boat builder, and another is being shaped from the skeleton of the one saved. It is probable that the Camphill will load at a Canterbury port for South Africa.
