MEETINGS.
The fortnightly meeting of the New Zealand Workers’ Union was held 'at the Trocadero last night. Mr O’Brien, pre. Bident, wag in the chair. Mr P. Grantham was elected to fill a vacancy on tha Federated Eight Houra Union. It wea reported that a branch of the Union had been formed at Waimate, South “Canterbury, its members being agricultural and pastoral workers. A resolution' was pasted congratulating the Canterbury workers on the steps they had taken, and trusting that “before long rural workers everywhere throughout New Zealand Would be organised. A resolue tion was carried deploring the action of the City Council in dismissing several of its labourers now that the winter monthe had arrived.
