The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company s Mamari arrived in port yesterday shortly after 9 a.m. The Mamari left London on February 15th at 8 a.m., and Plymouth at 8.30 p.m. on the IGth. The steamer Royalist which arrived last night from Auckland and San Frau--1 cisco is of the “turret” type of vessel, i and is the second of her class seen in New Zealand waters. The Royalist was built in 1895 by Messrs W. Doxford and bona, of Sunderland, England, and is owned by the Angler Company, of London. Her dimensions are:—Length, 340 ft; breadth, 45.5 ft: depth, 19.711; registered tonnage, -0-21 Dei: cargo-carrying capacity is between 5000 and 6000 tons. The engines, which are m the triple expansion principle, are capable of driving the steamer along at a little over nine knots per hour when fully loaded, and on her present voyage have worked without a stoppage, the average rate of being about, Dl knots for the distance of 5700 mites. Captain S. Tiernev is in command. On discharge, tho 'Royalist visits Lyttelton, thence goes to Sydney, ?nd after putting out the balance of her,cargo at the latter port, sails for Newcastle to load coal for flan Francisco. .
