ALLEGED THEFT
ARREST OP A NEW ZEALANDER,
(Received April 15, 0,38 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 14'. Henry Johnston was arrested on a provisional warrant charged with misappropriating five hundred pounds belonging to the Kauri Timber Company.
A Press Association telegram received from Auckland on Saturday, says : —H. Johnston, for several years managing director of the Kauri Timber Company, left Auckland on April Ist for Melbourne, to interview the directors there. It is stated that he has not reached Melbourne. Many reports are current as to his non-arrival. It is understood that the directors here and in Melbourne are considering the circumstances. Johnston wa.s in Sydney on Thursday. Since his departure discrepancies have been discovered in his accounts amounting to between £2OOO and £3OOO.
