Captain H. Johnson, Harbour Alas-tt-r in Wellington, leaves for Australia by the Westralia to-day on a holiday trip.
Tho Alayor of Wellington has accepted an official invitation to attend the celebrations at the opening of tho Commonwealth Parliament iu Alolbcurne. Tho invitation was conveyed through the Premier. Air Thomas Ballinger (Ballinger and Co., Limited), who is leaving Wellington cn route for England to-day, was yesterday presented with a pair of held glasses by the employes of the firm of which ho is managing director. Advice has been received in Welliagtion that Dr and Airs Rawson, accompaniod by Aliss Rawson, reached London on 22nd February. They wore met on arrival by Mr Charles Shari and, tho London representative of Sharland and Co.
Air W. If. Nelson, of Woodviiie, the winner cf the Champion Belt at the New Zealand Rifle Associations meeting, is a son of Air W. Nelson, of Tomoana, Hawke’s Bay. Mr Nelson first took up rifle shooting iu 1886. Since going to live at Woodviiie, some eight years ago, he has been a member of the local rifle club, which has some of tho best shots in tho colony in its ranks.
