Mr Jehu Simpson, of Kaiapoi, has been appointed manager of the Bruce Woollen mills, Otago. Councillor Townsend has recovered from a severe attack of influenza, and was again at business yesterday. Mr J. D. Spreckels, who has left again for America, intends to return to New Zealand at a later period in the year. Mr William Epps, formerly a Now Zealand journalist, well known in Weilingten, has been appointed secretary of the Sydney Hospital. Mr D. V. Allen, Fate of Dunedin, a son of Mr E. G. Allen, M.H.R., has been chosen to be -director of the School of Mines at Coromandel, Auckland. A Press Association telegram from Auckland states that the Bishop of Melanesia sailed for the Islands yesterday in the mission schooner Southern Cross. Lieutenant-Colonel Robin has sent a cablegram to tho Premier, stating that ho is returning te New Zealand from South Africa w'ith the Third Contingent. The marriage was celebrated at the Terrace Congregational Church yesterday afternoon by the Rev J. Reed Glasson, of Miss Janie Archibald and Mr W. W. G-reig. The bride, who was given away by her fathetr, Mr D. Archibald, wore a white figured silk dress with chiffon and pearl trimmings. She was attended by Miss Ethel Grady, Miss May Rc.bertsonBarry, Miss Kathleen West and Miss Hilda Staples, who were attired in white silk dre-sseis, with transparent sleeves, and yoke. Mr C. E. Maud'sley was bestman and Messrs R. Wilson and C. E. and E. J. Archibald were groomsmen.
