The Corinna brought from New Plymouth a... boxes and 20 Kegs of butter and 1577 oases of cheese for the Rimutaka; 302 boxes of butter and 63 cases of cheese for Melbourne; and 120 boxes of butter for Adelaide. , The Waihora, - from- Sydney, ‘ passed Farewell Spit at 2.45 p.m. yesterday. She will not, of course, bo inspected by the Health Officer till'this morning, and probably not be berthed till to-morrow morning. , When crossing the huo, Father Neptune’s Court was . held on a more than usually elaborate scale by the company of the Wakantti. . Before the ducking ceremony, a procession, headed by a remarkable scratch band, paraded the ship and created considerable fun. The “fairies, ’ personated by six muscular forecastle tenants, had no respect for personages, and everyone on the ship was-operated upon, generally with more Vigour than skill. Considerable surprise has been felt _ in shipping circles regarding the quarantining of the Wakanui./ ..When the vessel reached the" Cape absolutely no communication was allowed with theshore; no mails were permitted ;tp be taken,? and not even a newspaper allowed on; board. A tender certainly went off to ,tho ship and took off a few passengers, and'their luggage, but no, ,one from the. tender was allowed to approach the vessel: ?; As no other port but Hobart (a clean port) was touched, the hardship of the quarantining at Wellington is apparent. The New Zealand Shipping Company s Wakanui, which arrived from London via Capetown and Hobart on'Tuesday, was berthed last evening—four- feet, off the wharf, and tho mooring lines protected with discs. The voyage - but was of an uneventful nature, fine weather bo:ng experienced till- crossing: the. Tasman Sea, when, strong , sonth-sonth-west_ to west gales were met with. The Wakanui left London on F ebruary Ist, and owing to foggy weather, did not .-reach-'-Flymouth till the 3rd. Teneriffo. was reached •on the Bth. and -the vesseL loft ? ' again for Capetown, which was made on the sth of March.. Tho engines- were overhauled, and the voyage: continued at midnight. . Hobart was reached on March ,19th, but owing to want of berthing accommodation, the vessel was delayed twenty-four hours, making a start again for Wellington on the" 21stl- - The usual sports and concerts were held during the voyage, but owing to the plague at Capo- 1 town, the vessel was not berthed, and, no mails wero taken on ‘board; Captain Croucher is in command,' and his officers are:—Chief officer. Mr H. C. Barnes, R.N.R. ; second officer, Mr N. Shpre-Nye; third officer Mr" M. l Alford,'' R.N.R. ; fourth officer, Mr ~,C. ToffKP,- R.JI.R.; tniddv, S. Soxners-Vine; -chief engineer, Mr R. Vincent/ R.N.R.; second. Mr Christie; third. Mi? Bush; medical officer. Dr Edgar; Stoward-in-charge, Mr Adcock. The Wakanui has 1800 tons of general cargo for this port.

The Whnkatane is due from Napier early this morning. The Himitangi came off the slip yesterday 'afternoon. She will a special trip to Greymouth to-day. for a cargo of coal. - ' •■■■-; , : ' ■ Messrs Bethell, Gwyn and Co., the-wsll-known firm of London shipbrokers, were to start recently a-direct steamship line between "Adelaide, Melbourne "and Sydney and Avonmouth, the vessels engaged being of GOOD tons burden. Bristol has to thank its cold storage facilities for this now' business. ' THE WEATHER. TYPICAL NEW ZEALAND STATIONS.
