P. Midlane will not he able to make the trip to’ Napier with the Wellington representatives, and another man will have to- be chosen to take his place. The match between the United Tradesmen and the Oriental Cricket Club was commenced on the Basin. Reserve yesterday. The Tradesmen in their first innings made 132 (Taylor 32, Hutchings 26, Niven 22, Thawley J. 5 not out). Murphy, for the Orientals, took four pickets for 21 runs, and Fulton three'for 42. The Orientals only managed to compile 58 in their first innings (Fulton 12, France 10), and, following on, have lost one wicket for nine runs. Hutchings took five wickets for 39 runs and Whelan five for 14 runs. .
