THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
PLATFORM OF THE RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION. It was announced at the close of last night’s meeting of thd Wellington Ratepayers' Association that the policy of the association for the coming municipal elections had been completed. This platform, including the planks added last night, is as follows: 1. The extension of the tramway system.
2. The reorganisation of the pres ;nt working system, so that the city may he divided! into working districts under separate working overseers. 3. That the proposal of the City Council to purchase part of Miramar for recreation and other purposes is not desirable, and that this association .will oppose it in every way. 4. That the electric 'light works should be in the hands of the City Council. t . . -i 5. That the Council should acquire the gasworks at as early a date as i hey think expedient. 6. That nci Corporation officer should be allowed to do any private work, and that the whole of his time should be devoted to thci work of his department. 7. That the Team Hail proposal be supported. ; , , , • ~ 8. Each candidate to be asked, Would vou be in favour of a complete reorganisation 'of the whole of the Corporation staff?” ] 9. That this association approves ot all Corporation work being done by contract- wherever possible, and that each candidate should bo asked to record his opinion for or against.
