GOLF.
The opening match of the season arranged by the Wellington Golf Club was played afc Miramar on Saturday afternoon. The match—for which prizes were given by Mrs H. D. Bell, ladies’ captain of the club—was a mixed foursome bogey handicap, and was won by Mrs G. Todd and Mr D. Ritchie with the excellent score of 5 up. The following were the best scores handed in:—Mrs G. Todd and Mr D. Ritchie (9), 5 up ; Miss Higginson and Professor Brown (9), all square; Miss Brandon and .Mr G. Todd (5), 1 down; Miss Izard and Air E. S. Pearce (9), 1 down; Miss Aled-it-v and Mr A. J. Abbott (8), 2 down , Aliss Zoo Johnston and Dr Gow (81, 3 down; Aliss Hilda W'illiams and Air D. B. Howden -(G), 3 down; .Airs Turnbull and Mr W. Cook (Sh 3 down; Airs A. Pearce and Air. J. Webster (scr), I down.
The first of the monthly matches for tlie silver deck was to have been played on Saturday next; but in consequence of the polo gymkana having been fixed for that date .and the following Saturday coming in the Easter holidays, the match will probably not be played till April 13. Due notice- will he given lu the advertising columns of rhe “ Times.”
