The revival in mining in Westland may be gauged from fhe fact that nineteen special and extended claims were registered in Hokitika, during the month of February. The area applied for was 1123 acres, on which a rental is payable the first year of £l4O 15s;' second year, £2SI 10s: third and subsequent years, £422 6s.

The secretary of the Hokitika Gold Dredging Company jesterday received information that, the pontoons for this company’s dredges have been successful1 }' floated.

The quantity and value of gold entered for export at the different worts of the colony for the month ending February 28th, were as follows:—Audi, land, 10,7240 z, value £67,437; Nelson, 32320 z, value £11,938; Westport. 12870 z, value £5150; .Grey-mouth, 14,7370 z, value £54;944; Dunedin, 17,489on, value £71,052; Invercargill, 9360 z, value £3740; total, 53,40-loz, value £204,261. For the corresponding month of TOGO the export was 18,1250 z, valued at £67,369. THAMES, March 25, Rich ore is coming to hand, from the Monowai mine,'Waimomo, refractory oro ■being shipped worth £2OO per ton. An extension of the Moanatiri tunnel, in order to prospect a thousand acres, of auriferous land at a low level, is being urged upon the Government, to afford employment to men in the district.
