The revival in mining in Westland may be gauged from fhe fact that nineteen special and extended claims were registered in Hokitika, during the month of February. The area applied for was 1123 acres, on which a rental is payable the first year of £l4O 15s;' second year, £2SI 10s: third and subsequent years, £422 6s.

The secretary of the Hokitika Gold Dredging Company jesterday received information that, the pontoons for this company’s dredges have been successful1 }' floated.
