A big Maori ceremony was held at Kennedy’s Bay on Friday for the dedication of a new Maori church and the opening of a meeting-house, both of wnich Lad been erected by Maoris at their own cost. Several Anglican clergy from Auckland attended, and were hear, tily welcomed by the 3laoris. The church and meeting-house cost £270, and the 'Maoris have already over £2OO in hand. .
. CHRISTCHURCH, 3farch 24. A young man was arrested last night charged with committing a criminal assault on a girl aged nine years. St. Albans Borough, having ordered the necessary plant at a cost of £7OO, has now formed a volunteer fire brigade, Thirty-live members were enrolled last night.
