GREAT DAIRY PRODUCE COMPETITION.

The conditions of-the valuable competition in dairy produce which is being promoted by the National Dairy Association, in Connection with the Dairying Conference to be held at Palntorstoh North in July, have been issued by the National Dairy Association. The exhibits in each ease are to be confined to factory products, and the successful exhibitors of bujtter and cheese will each be a warded a, prize of £lO, with a certificate, thesecond exhibits talking £5 | and a certificate, and the third a certificate. Wellington- Meat Export Com- > panytev-etbre;’ graded : and qUaccd in the freezing charfibers - for a 'period of hot Tesd than-, two and a-half months before the. date'of .The butter will be transferred .to plain-new boxes, pro- - vided by the exhibitor, bn' which' a comi mitteo-will -place a private mark, then , defrosted and judged in the cool store ’• immediately prior to the exhibition. - The .conditions in regard to the cheese exhibits state that “the cheese shall be selected by a committee appointed by the executive; the, exhibits to be taken during the month of April, between twe dates , comprising, a period of not more than one’s, week’s make, such dates to be fixed by the .executive; the committee to obliterate any brands pr numbers found on. the cheese,, and to stamp or brand each cheese with a special mark to bo decided upon by the committee; the executive to. notify competitors' by .wiro the date on which the committee will visit the factory to make the selection; no -cheese will be selected which has not the date of make and number of vat legibly marked, on tho bandage.” No entry fee is to be charged, but exhibitors -must bear all freight and railage charges. .The conditions of this uninue- exhibition—the first of the kind held in tho colony—should produce a lesson of great practical value- The competing brands will not be specially made for exhibition, but will represent the quality of the daily output of the factory, so. .that the conscientious maker—the man; most: entitled to credit—will receive due recognition.
