HARBOUR BOARD.

A meeting of the Wellington Harbour Hoard wan held yesterday. Present ; Messrs J. G. W. Aitkeu tin the chair), W. Booth W. Cable, G. Fisher, T. Gale, T. Wilford, and X. Reid.

The bank books .showed :—Current account, credit balance £3362 Ids 4d; 'imprest wages account, credit balance £175 ; on fixed deposit, £33,000 Tho following payments wore authorised ; For accounts and wages, £7345 U)s -id ; for salaries for March, £433 !3s lid; for progress on contracts, £2136 'bis id. Total, C00G.3 10s s<l. The Chairman reported :—l. That tho Hoard’s solicitor did not deem it desirable to give an exclusive privilege for runners to soli periodicals on. tho wharf to tho lessee of the bookstall, hut that r-c'rrni.ssioii to employ runners had been included in tho terms of the lease, which would bo put up to public auction on ..Monday, 25th hist., by Messrs Thomp-

son Bros, and Co. 2. That tho Health Department have notified that restrictions are to be imposed on vessels that have arrived from the Capo, Perth and Fremantle, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane, and that circulars, embodying these requirements, have been issued to tins shipping companies and the masters of vessels. 3. That tho City Council lias accepted tenders for the erection of a soa.-wa.ll at Clyde quay, the widening of the roadway, and tho erection of oaths, rind that tho cost of tho party wall, which is to ho borne by the Hoard, amounts to £81)7, together with the cost of supervision, and that in accordance with the request of the Council, tho licensees of tho foreshore have been called upon to remove their buildings forthwith.—The report was adopted. *

Tho Wharves and Accounts Committee recommended:—l. Tho adoption of the roster for members of tho Wharves and Accounts Committee as laid on the table. 3. Tho granting of seven weeks’ leave of absence to the Harbour Master to enable him to visit Australia. The calling of tenders for ton thousand loads of filling for delivery at tho reclamations at Waterloo quay south, and at tho approach to the Glasgow Wharf. •!-. Tho presentation of an address bo their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York, and to appoint a committee to arrange therefor, and to deaf with all matters relating to their reception.

Tho report was adopted. In regard to clause 3, it was decided to deal with the matter as one of urgency, and ho empower Messrs Gale and Ail ken to take immediate action. Messrs Cable, Reid, Wilford and Booth were appointed to make arrangements in connection with the Royal visit.
