The Customs returns for yesterday amounted to £B6l 19s 6d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, is in receipt of the following cabled message from its London house: —Merino Wool. —Since the close of last sale there has been an average advance of about 5 per cent, on last sales’ closing rates. Medium crossbred —There is little demand. The prices quoted are the highest and; lowest returns on the market yesterday, the difference in price being regulated by (be quality and' the supply and demand at the different marts. In many cases the extreme prices did not rule with all the firms, the lowest and highest prices supplied being quoted above.
