EDUCATION BOARD.
The Education Board! met yesterday. Present—Messrs J. R. ‘Blair (chairman), F. Bradey, A. W. Hogg, E. Feist, J. Robertson, J. Young, and W. C. Buchanan. , The bank-book showed—Maintenance, debtor, £5715 13s lOd; buildings, ere. dit, £242 12s JOd. Payments to the following amounts were authorised : Maintenance, £5715 15s ; buildings,£2o9 14s 4d. The Education Department’s grant for swimming (£33 4s 4d) was referred to the Finance Committee to draw tip a scheme of distribution. The resignations of Miss Bertha Lawson, ex-pupil teacher at Mount Cook Girls’ School, and Miss Amy Keedwell, Eaitara, were accepted. Plans were ordered to be prepared, and tenders called for a new school at Mangatild. Tenders were ordered to he called for a shelter shed! at Stokes Valley. A grant of £l7 wag made for repairs to the residence at the Lower Hutt School. It was decided to make application to the Government to build a new school at Akatarawa under the new Districts Act.
