Tlio Moura brings up Fitzgerald’s circus from Lyttelton on Sunday. , The Rotomahana will take down to .v tcltou to-day 600 sheep and ot ot 500 on Friday, both lines being irom. tne W Tho la Mo‘koia, due to-day f c otn W will not, should she arrive to time, be berthed till early to-morrow atternoon. Jiv tiie Rotoiti next Saturday about 11 000 boxes”"of butter and 2000 (cases of cheese will probably be brought clown for the Rimutaka. . . . Tinned in The Mokoia. on her arrival at Dunedin from Melbourne on April 10th, withdraws from her running for an overhaul. Hei work will be taken up by the Tarawera. The Rotoiti will call at Picton on her way to Onchunga next Sunday, in order to carry visitors to the Blenheim races. The Mapourika was to leave Westport at ten o’clock last night, but owing to the heavy weather on the coast it was improbable that she would get put of the Grey. The Rotoiti, on arrival in port to-day goes on the slip for a cleaning and paintin" also to have her propeller blades replaced. She leaves again to-morrow, as usual. It is probable that when the -Rotoiti gels to New Plymouth she will exchange running with the Takapuna. in which case she will return to Wellington, the Takapuna going North. Mr Beattie, late second officer of the le Anan, who has been ashore studying navigation, joined the Mourn yesterday as second officer. Ml - Norton, whom lie succeeds, will join the Upolu in a similar capacity on her arrival here to-morrow. Ine present second of the Upolu proceeds to headquarters for instructions. Following are the movements ox some of the Union Company’s boats:—The Janet Nicoll leaves Lyttelton at one o clock this afternoon for this port, and go® 3 hence to Napier and Greymouth. Ihe Upolu left Lyttelton last evening, and will go on to Westport this evening at live o’clock. The Flora goes to Westport on Thursday. The Taieri leaves Westport on Wednesday for Wellington. The Rimutaka is to leave Wanganui early this morning for Wellington. She is due in port during the afternoon. - The Pania came oft the slip yesterday morning and was immediately followed by the Petone, which is expected to he ready to-dav. to sail for Greymouth. TT.M.S. Archer is at present in Lyttelton and will remain at that port till the 26th inst., when she proceeds to Akaroa and thence to Dunedin. The Rotorua brought up from Lyttelton yesterday 47 tons of general cargo for Wellington, including a Shropshire Down rain for Mr Bradey; for Picton, a boiler - and cmantity of material for the Wakamarina Gold Mining Company and 15 rams, consigned to Mr James Duncan; for Nelson 20. rams and 41 sheep for Messrs Hunt Bros, and a quantity of general cargo. The barque Lorraine, after a delay of several days, sailed for London yesterday. She was loaded, for .Mr G. H. Scales, with 6018 bags of wheat. 2147 bales of wool, 70 caspix of gum. and one piece of machinery. The new steamer Barwon, built at Blythe, in Northumberland, for Messrs Huddart. Parker and Co., is expected to leave about the end of the mouth for Australia. She is a steel screw steamer of 3000 tons register, intended fox - the SydneyAdelaide trade, and is purely a cargo-car-rier. Captain Thomas Rae is named to bring the Barwon from Homo. The Anchor Steam Shipping Company, the title of a pi’ivato shipping firm of Nelson, has been registered as a limited liability company, with a capital of AJbo.OOO, privately subscribed. The new company will bo known as the Anchor Shipping and Foundry Company, Limited. Mr J. H. Cook is the managing director, and Mx* W. Rogers has been appointed manager. Messrs W. and G. Tnrnbuill and Co., who have long acted as Wellington agents of the Anchor Company, will continue to do so.

lt is stated that the Sounds and Golden Bay Steamship Company, through their agents Messrs Laery and Co., of this city, are about to place an order with a shipbuilding firm for a new steamer, to succeed the little Te Kapu. The net register of tho new boat will bo 100 tons, with a contract speed of eleven knots. The company realise that a well-appointed and comfortable boat, with a good turn of speed, running between this port and Havelock, through Pelorus Sound, will open up a virtually new and very attractive route to tourists travelling between AVellington and the West Coast, and intend to cater for a passenger traffic. While this object will be mainly considered in deciding upon the lines of the steamer's construction, provision for the transport of perishable produce will at the same time be assured. The steamer will also be designed to carry a large number of sheep. Altogether the new boat will bo a welcome addition to the local mercantile fleet.
