The mother (much agitated): Hd lias had all my money, sir, £IBO, and he has knocked me about, his old mother! This is my son. my only son. and I have been a widow thirty years. I have wait- - ed on him hand and foot, and he has had all my money. Then he brings me here; he’s a bad boy. Mr Bird (to prosecutor) : _ Why don’t • you leave her, instead of bringing your mother to the police-court? The son: She won’t go. The mother: I won’t leave the house without my money. It is my house as much as his. Mr Bird: The case is dismissed; there is no corroboration. (Cheers in court). ■
